Thing of it is that the "Windows" compatibility excuse is quickly becoming a myth. I have been using Ubuntu solely at home and work and my Windows brethren are none the wiser. There is nothing that I am missing from web surfing to spreadsheets to movies, Linux handles it all.

The real draw to a Mac is how you put it, an elegant UI. It is a graceful OS and with OS X it seems that each new version gets better and better. One is on my wish list for certain!

Macintosh rocks! Stable and user friendly software without even needing an Associates Degree in Computer Science. Honest to God 'Plug and Play' hardware without secret codes and gobbledy-gook drivers. I can't recommend it highly enough.

The biggest reason for NOT buying a Mac is compatibility with the rest of the world which has been corrupted and conditioned by Microsoft Windows. Even that has been overcome in many ways by Mac software since they know how to overcome many non-compatibility issues - but it does require buying a file converting program (can't remember the name off-hand). I find that my family has as many non-compatibility issues between their own PC's and between their email servers - and they ALL own non-Macs.

You can find software to do MOST of what you want to do, but don't expect to be able to find your favorite game in a Mac version. You'll have to find a similar game written for Macs. And some things for the Windows just don't have comparable software - oh well, so even paradise isn't perfect. )c:
