Getting myself ready for session five, this time I’m feeling deliciously evil and will be offering the evening’s plot advances in a coded message.

My never ending fear of boredom continues to stalk me. As my sister’s move day approaches the itching in the back of my head grows stronger reminding me that I’ll be stranded with no Internet, no Xbox and Gamecube, and even a total lack of cable or satellite television. Now, don’t get me wrong, literacy is not a problem and I can focus for long periods of time to read a book but after two days of lugging heavy, awkwardly shaped furniture and boxes pregnant with books reading becomes a challenge. This is where video games come in handy, when you body is exhausted it is nice to pick up a nicely paced RPG and sort of stroll through your imagination.
So in my panic that Dawn of Souls will not arrive in time I snuck out yesterday and picked up a used copy of Golden Sun. Guilt by omission; I neglected to tell my wife that I picked it up while getting cat litter. Sure it was only $13.77 with tax but for some reason I always tell her when I’m buying a game, it is as if I need a stamp of approval. All the same I still haven’t come clean and I’m feeling a little furtive. I suppose that I’ll come clean sometime soon but for now it’s our little secret, ok?
I tend not to make purchases impulsively rather preferring to fret about them endlessly until the opportunity passes me by, my wife buys it for me, or I convince myself to do something else. So this afternoon I surprised myself by bidding on a copy of Final Fantasy I & II: Dawn of Souls for the GBA. With a high bid of $9.99 and less than three minutes left to the auction I figured a paltry bid of $12.00 would do no more than return to me the minor disappointment of a lost auction.
The remaining time on the auction passed quickly and I found myself the winner of the auction with a high bid of $10.50 and I’m left feeling a little more than pleased to say the least.
I missed the early Final Fantasy games because I was a PC gamer during the NES and SNES years so I am looking forward to playing my way through these two. Hopefully, it will have more of a storyline that
Final Fantasy Tactics which I’ll admit to finding a little more than tedious and bland due to the utter lack of character development and a cohesive story beyond “bounty hunting to get home”. At the very least the game should offer several dozen hours of turn-based RPG action, something that my less than stellar twitch reflexes can appreciate and my fingers are crossed that it will arrive on my doorstep before I head to New Hampshire to help my sister and brother-in-law move.

Yet another art post, this time it is Tyler Campbell’s site. Found it in the WordPress support forms and loved the quirky irreverance of the content. Not to mention the shout out given to my hometown’s former pride, Pucky the Whale.
Lately, I’ve been drawn to looking at more artists while surfing. While over at Boing Boing I followed a link to the website of Kozyndan, a pair of artists, and found this album cover; I loved it so much I had to make it my desktop. The artists work in digitally manipulated pencil drawings and their work emanates this strange, surreal sort of warmth. If you are in the LA area go check out their upcoming show, I unfortunately cannot seeing as I’m on the wrong coast.
