Eek! I always catch myself trying to force my tastes on friends & co-workers. I used to be really bad, but I’ve been getting better - now I’ll burn the (unrequested) cd or upload the mp3s to my server but never actually send them off. I’m able to catch myself in between the act of burning and distributing.
I even refuse to install iTunes on my machine in the office, despite the fact that there’s several dozen shared libraries on the office network. Instead, I connect to my own music server at home, reasoning that I already have anything I’d ever enjoy and I’ll probably find the undiscovered gems that I don’t have long before any of my co-workers.
Luckily–or unfortunately–none of my co-workers really listen to music. One is into XM radio but only the talk stations and the other is of a take it or leave it mindset, which means that I usually keep my tastes to myself. Makes me feel like an excitable 6 year-old who has been told to sit on his hands and keep quiet. Tough to do when there is so much good music out there and you just want to talk about it!
