In reading the article, the people sounded no different than the conspicuous consumers of the 80's in that their tastes, attitudes, and actions truly seem to be studiously contrived. I mean, Pollack telling someone that their 3 y/o's taste in music sucks because the kid expresses a preference for Wilco? That is truly lame. More lame than dropping $600 on a pair of distressed jeans.
