Ah, yes. The wife and I used to game together all the time on PC, mostly adventure games and the occasional FPS. That dwindled off as it got even harder to justify the cost of hardware to keep up with PC gaming. We drifted over to console gaming where she still regularly schools me in Soul Caliber and Dead or Alive. We sunk hundreds of hours into Animal Crossing. The DS lite just looks plain sexy and if the screen really is as bright as it looks in the magazines I'll be very tempted to pick one up this summer. AC on that will be another massive time sink.

The GF and I are currently sharing a character in Oblivion. We'll easily put in 20 hours on a weekend and even picked up the official strategy guide today (gamefaqs just wasn't cutting the mustard). I've already bought more RAM for her machine and am contemplating dropping some serious coin on a new vid card/mobo, despite the fact that I built the pc only 2 months ago. Prior to Oblivion, I wouldn't consider her a gamer by any means, other than her unnatural knack for Tetris. Now she'll spend 2 hours/night collecting flowers for potions.

In other news, I just preordered a DS Lite. Reason being that there's enough games for DS that we can both enjoy. I'll most likely be up for the Wii, too. I have absolutely 0 interest in anything else at E3. The last system I put any serious time into was the Dreamcast 6 years ago, so kudos to the big N for knowing how to rekindle my gaming spirit.
