After playing with the Kororaa Xgl Live CD I now have an even more pressing need to get a new laptop. Xgl + Compiz is so frickin’ tasty that even my Windows loving curmudgeon of a coworker was impressed.

Yeah, xgl looks cool but ever since I stopped using the pc for gaming, I have had no interest in spending money on video cards.
Yeah, I suppose if given the choice between a $500 video card or two more 400GB SATA drives and a controller card it would be the latter. Eye candy is nice but storage is double-plus good!
@Mike: I was shocked to see how smoothly XGL & Compriz run on dated graphics cards. I don’t have any specific examples, but give the Kororaa cd a chance and I’m willing to bet you’ll be pleasantly surprised.
