Well, it is a waste of time and money for the tax payer but apparently the industries surrounding the corrections system are making money by the truckload. Sadly, the citizenry sees none of the benefits unless you consider having a sizable portion of you nation incarcerated so that they can produce items for the Washington War Machine a win-win situation.
