hey! it doesn’t look like you’re at work! how’s the no-office situation working? ;o)
So far, so good. It is a little strange to be sort of adrift but then again it really hasn’t sunk in yet. Maybe in a week or two I’ll really begin to feel weird.
What are you doing now for work?
I’m the network admin for geezeo.com which means I get to spend all day fiddling in Amazon’s EC2 like a mad scientist building systems to scale in ways that are hopefully massive. I did consulting for them over the past couple of months but the work just continued to build and they made an offer I couldn’t refuse a couple of weeks ago. I’ll likely write more about the position when I come up to catch my breath–I’ve been tearing into my task list with hungry abandon–but in short the company is a ROWE (Results Only Work Environment) firm which basically translates into “I don’t care if you work in your boxers whilst blasting Kool Keith on your home stereo, just get your shit done,” which is my kind of workplace. You’re judged on merit, not face time.
